The dinner for top TRUMP memecoin holders went off without a hitch… and largely without a President.
If those 220 Big, Beautiful TRUMP memecoin holders thought they were buying access to the President, as Democrats allege, they came away from yesterday’s gala dinner sorely disappointed.
Two attendees of the dinner for the top 220 TRUMP memecoin holders told Crypto in America podcast host Eleanor Terrett that they came away from the dinner “disappointed by the lack of meaningful interaction with the president.”
After making million-dollar-plus investments in the TRUMP memecoin, all they got was a brief speech reiterating his intention to make the U.S. the global leader in crypto, Terrett said. They had hoped for more access and perhaps even a Q&A session for the top wallet holders.
“He just gave a few remarks and left,” one complained, according to Terrett.
This did not lead to an outpouring of sympathy from Crypto Twitter.
Bitcoin Voter Project said, “Did they expect to pick POTUS’ brain on what alts he’s bullish on?” followed by a “lol.”
ChainYoda asked, “The President rugged the ruggers?”
Nowhere in Sight
Similar sentiments arose when Tron founder Justin Sun posted a short video of the event that included several shots of an empty podium and none of the President.
X user Fitz asked, “Was Trump even there?”
It’s noteworthy that Sun was the top VIP according to a leaderboard that put his Official TRUMP holdings at 1,319,904.266. That got him up on the podium to receive a gold watch and make a few comments — no sound, alas — again without Trump anywhere in sight.
Sun’s TRUMP holdings are valued at over $17.6 million based on the current price of $13.40, down 15% on the day.
Aside from his memecoin, which boasts a market capitalization of $2.6 billion, the President is involved with World Liberty Financial (WLFI), which has made a number of forays into crypto, including issuing a stablecoin.
Democrats Unamused
Democrats were enraged by the dinner, with some joining protests at the event, which took place at the Trump National Golf Club overlooking the Potomac River in nearby Virginia.
“What’s happening tonight at Trump’s golf course—where he is hosting a dinner for the top investors in his meme coins—is in effect, putting a ‘For Sale’ sign on the White House,” Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D – Conn.) said on a press call organized by Access U.S. “It’s auctioning off access.”
It also cited Rep. Maxine Waters of California, ranking Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, calling the Official TRUMP token “a way to circumvent national security and anti-corruption laws.”
Hours before the event, Waters introduced the “Stop Trading, Retention, and Unfair Market Payoffs in Crypto Act of 2025” or the “Stop TRUMP in Crypto Act of 2025,” according to a release.
“Trump’s crypto con is not just a scam to target investors,” Waters said in a statement. “It’s also a dangerous backdoor for selling influence over American policies to the highest foreign bidder. For all we know, Russia, China, or even North Korea could be buying Trump’s crypto to secure favors from the White House.”
Judging by yesterday’s event, however, it doesn’t seem like TRUMP holders are getting much access for their money.
